We have included below a number of resources whose sites contain products or services of a proven quality and which are of particular interest to those who want to start a business as well as resource centers and those who teach entrepreneurship.

Publications and Teaching Materials from the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship:

The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) inspires young people to stay in school, to recognize opportunities and to plan for successful futures. Our innovative entrepreneurship curriculum is offered in middle schools and high schools around the world through a network of program offices and licensed partners. We train teachers to deliver the program and provide them with support throughhout the year.

This is an excellent program and the NFTE website includes numerous products and teaching aids of interest both to the entrepreneur and their teachers.

 Canada Business: Service for Entrepreneurs

Both the Government of Canada and the Canada Business Centres provide information and resources on the basics of entrepreneurship in every province and territory in Canada, including guides, checklists and self-diagnostic tests. These facilities are an invaluable source of assistance for Canadian entrepreneurs and also include information about innovations, exporting, grants and financing, marketing and much more. For those who want to start a business this is an extremely useful site to visit. See below for the link:

A large and comprehensive site with information about starting and managing a business, loans and grants, contracting, counseling and training and much more. A most valuable source for those starting a business.

Community Futures in Canada

Community Futures are Community Futures Development Corporations and Community Business Development Corporations (CFDCs/CBDCs) provide their communities with a variety of services including business development loans, technical support, training and information. In addition to the business development component, CFDCs/CBDCs involve themselves in a wide array of community initiatives, including strategic planning processes, research and feasibility studies, and the implementation of a diverse range of community economic development (CED) projects.

These are great organizations for the budding entrepreneur to visit and get the help they need.

Self-Counsel are a Canadian publisher of small business and other books which are useful to the entrepreneur. In particular their "Start & Run" series contains a number of titles about starting and operating a number of different businesses.

Also a Canadian publisher, Productive Publications have a number of excellent books on financing your small business and, as well, a series called "Your Guide to Government Financial Assistance for Business". This series is updated annually and contains information for each Province and Territory.

If you are going into business a plan really helps you to gauge it's potential and to obtain financing (see "He had 16 cents and bought a company for $500,000 (a true story)!" as an example.
