Program Highlights:
Using youth sports as an example, Jim Thompson shows how the motivation and goals of a sports team are very similar to what every organization would like to see in their employees. He describes both the right and wrong ways to encourage people to perform as best they can and provides a number of lessons in leadership drawn from his personal experience as a coach and mentor young athletes. These lessons, Jim maintains, are as applicable to business as they are to sports as he notes that fair play and the acceptance of mistakes can contribute to personal growth and motivation for employees. Jim Thompson has authored three books, including Shooting in the Dark: Tales of Coaching and Leadership. For more than 10 years, Jim directed the Public and Global Management programs at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
