Program Highlights:
In 2003, PeopleSoft bought J.D. Edwards. Ram Gupta, who worked for PeopleSoft, moved to the J.D. Edwards headquarters to guide the process of merging the two companies. In this presentation Gupta points out the rationale for the acquisition and the steps that were taken to merge the two companies. Ram Gupta explains that the few months prior to an acquisition or merger provide the only opportunity you will have to pose the tough questions and critically examine your rationale for proceeding. Once the acquisition or merger has been completed the next few months must be focused on completing the transition including establishing the mission and vision of the new entity, assessing and dealing with employee issues, and implementing structural changes. The next step is one of consolidating the results and, hopefully, realizing the new opportunities that have been created. Gupta previously held positions with WebMD Corp, Silicon Graphics, and IBM. He holds a master's degree in computer science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Gupta also holds several US patents.
