People-First Management: Creating a Culture of Trust

Scroll Down for a Preview of this Program

Daniel P. Amos
Chairman and CEO
AFLAC

Program Highlights:

  • The three virtues of good business: be credible, be respectful, and be fair.

  • How to have your employees be part of your organization's success.

  • Setting expectations that everybody understands - and acting on them.

Both AFLAC's sales volume and brand awareness have increased significantly as a result of their advertising campaign featuring the duck. Although outstanding name recognition is a boon to the bottom line, it can also backfire if you make a wrong move. AFLAC's Dan Amos is of the view that the success of his company can be attributed to the reputation it has developed for doing what is right and being fair to it's employees. Dan maintains that when employees trust you they will provide a much better level of service to your customers. The policies that AFLAC have adopted have led to returns well above the average as a result.

During Mr. Amos' 13-year tenure as CEO, the market capitalization of AFLAC has grown from $1.3 billion to more than $16 billion. AFLAC has been on Forbes' "Platinum 400 List of Best Big Companies" for four consecutive years, and Fortune's "100 Best Companies to Work for in America" for five consecutive years.
