David B. Yoffie
Professor
Harvard Business School
|
Program Highlights:
This is a lively presentation by Professor Yoffie. He notes that some companies are able to overcome their larger competitors while some are defeated. As in judo, a challenger can often bring a larger and more powerful opponent down. He suggests that at the core of your strategy you require the ability to move quickly, the ability to keep your opponent off balance, and the ability to take advantage of your opponent's size, which is often their main weakness. And if you are being attacked by a smaller, more agile opponent, there are many countermoves that you can use to successfully repel the attempt. Professor Yoffie has been a member of the Harvard Business School faculty since 1981. He is the author or editor of eight published books, including Competing On Internet Time: Lessons From Netscape And Its Battle With Microsoft. Professor Yoffie received his Master's and PhD degrees from Stanford University and is currently a Visiting Scholar at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
