 Change Management and Strategic Planning

Scroll Down for a Preview of this Program

Roberta Katz
Associate Vice President of Strategic Planning
Stanford University

Program Highlights:

  • How to deal successfully with the problems encountered in an organization when change is attempted.

  • How to meet the challenge of getting everybody involved in the change process.

  • How instill a sense of personal ownership in the change process amongst employees.

The strategic planning necessary to implementing change involves, in part, with ensuring that employees and stakeholders are on side and committed to the process. But it is inevitable that there is resistance from all quarters. As a result even the best plans are doomed to failure unless this resistance is met and defeated.

Dr. Katz explains six rules for effective implementation providing examples of each one while using current efforts at Stanford University as a model. These address the questions of leadership, of objectives, of an overall vision, ways to deal with employee discomfort or resistance, and the importance of persistence and flexibility.

Roberta Katz has served as senior vice president and general counsel of Netscape Communications Corp. She earned a PhD from Columbia University and is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Law. Dr. Katz is the author of Justice Matters: Rescuing the Legal System for the 21st Century.
