-
How to build a
leadership game plan.
Scott McNealy,
who co-founded Sun Microsystems Inc, believes
that leaders can be identified but not
created. And those we might consider as natural leaders
require as much experience as they can get. They
need to be constantly challenged and exposed to
differing situations so their skills may be widened and improved and
so their full potential rises to the surface. And this is where
coaching becomes so important because if
potential leaders are properly motivated and encouraged they will do
their best and improve their own strengths as well as
contributing to the organization.
McNealy shares his methods for selecting and
training exceptional leaders
which he used to complete a successful leadership transition
strategy at Sun Microsystems. He
suggests that honesty and integrity are just as
important as ability and notes that are there are always some types of
managers that you are better off without. McNealy's
inspiring and thoughtful message includes a plan to grow your own
leaders to take your organization into the future.
Scott McNealy co-founded Sun Microsystems, Inc. in 1982 and served as
chief executive officer and chairman from 1984 to 2006. McNealy guided
the company from a Silicon Valley start-up to a leading provider of
network computing infrastructure, with almost 38,000 employees
worldwide.
